Performance

This SUV runs on a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine that makes 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. Subaru has given the Ascent a Lineartronic® continuously variable transmission, and every trim has an eight-speed manual mode with paddle shifters. As you may already know, the Ascent comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. This can give it enhanced traction when it’s otherwise difficult to maintain good traction. If conditions are really tough to deal with, this Subaru has a program called X-MODE® that you can engage to improve grip even more. Towing capacity is up to 2,000 pounds on the entry-level trim and up to 5,000 pounds on all the others.

Interior

The seating configuration of the Ascent makes it attractive to many of our customers. The middle row can either be set up with a bench seat or a pair of captain’s chairs, and there’s almost 40 inches of leg room in this row. The back row has room for three additional people.

With the rear seats upright, you have about 18 cubic feet of cargo space to utilize. If you ever need to create more storage space, you can fold down the second and/or third rows. When both are down, maximum cargo capacity is over 75 cubic feet.

Every one of our 2022 Ascents features a large touchscreen plus SiriusXM®, HD Radio™, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. It’s so convenient to have all these high-tech components, and you can easily stay entertained and informed while you travel. The available Wi-Fi capability helps in this regard as well.

Exterior

Like our other Subaru SUVs, the Ascent has a good ground clearance, sitting 8.7 inches off the ground. It can ride on 18-inch or 20-inch wheels, and it comes standard with LED steering responsive headlights and raised roof rails. A panoramic moonroof is optional, as are chrome accents and LED fog lights.

Trim Levels

We carry all five trims for the 2022 Subaru Ascent and the financing you need to purchase them. The base model has an advanced safety package that comes with several driver-assist technologies, including emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning. It also has a 6.5-inch touchscreen and tri-zone climate control.

The next trim is the Ascent Premium. It can either have room for eight or seven passengers and has heated front seats and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. At this level, an 8.0-inch touchscreen and Wi-Fi capability are standard. In addition, the Premium gets to have blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

The Onyx Edition is a trim that is configured with captain’s chairs in its middle row. It has black exterior accents, along with StarTex® upholstery. It benefits from having a power rear gate and keyless access, and it can help prevent accidents with reverse automatic braking.

Next up is the Limited. It feels refined, thanks to its leather seats and heated first- and second-row seats. It can either have room for eight or seven passengers.

Finally, there’s the seven-passenger Touring trim. It’s the only one to come standard with integrated navigation and a Harman Kardon premium sound system. Its panoramic moonroof is a nice touch, and it uniquely offers a 180-degree front-view monitor.
