Savvy Car Owners Keep These Tools in Their Garage

Okay, so you’re not a mechanic.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have some tools on hand – just in case.

Some issues that come up are well within your ability and having the right tools will allow you to fix what you can.

Check out these tools that you should have in your toolbox.

Tire pump

Air isn’t free anymore.

Unfortunately, most gas stations will charge you for filling your tires up with air.

If you have your own, you don’t have to worry when you’re out of quarters.

Plus, proper air pressure improves your car’s fuel efficiency and safety.

Funnels

If you’ve ever tried pouring something from a big container into a little one, you know the importance of a funnel.

You may need to add coolant or oil to your vehicle at some point and having to clean it up because it spilled is no fun.

Extra oil and coolant

Speaking of oil and coolant – it’s a good idea to keep some extra on hand in the garage.

Leaks happen and having some of these fluids around can make the difference between getting your car to the mechanic safely and having to call a tow truck.

Battery charger

Having a battery charger means you won’t have to worry about another vehicle for a jump-start.

Screwdrivers

Of course, a good set of screwdrivers has a multitude of uses around the house, but having some in the garage means you won’t have to go searching for the right one when it’s time to change the headlight or change out the license plate.

Flashlight

A time may come when you have to look underneath your car and you won’t be able to see very well without a flashlight.

It can also help when you’re looking under the hood, too.

Of course, they’re pretty handy to have around if the power goes out in your home, as well.

Always be prepared

You may never have to use the tools in your well-stocked garage, but should you ever need them, you’ll be glad to have them.

If you come against a problem with your car that you can’t solve on your own, come and see the folks at Serra Subaru for help!
